January has passed by in a blur! I'm looking back at my aims for the month to see how I feel about them.
I didn't drink alcohol very often anyway, so I haven't missed that at all. The only time I've thought about it is when I think about the habitual drinking - bit early for the football, we could go to the fanzone, it's my birthday, I could have a drink to celebrate etc. It's been a good lesson to think about that.
As the temperature has dropped I have eaten less salad but I'll get back to eating that today as I'm a bit souped out. Plus, winter salads are amazing.
Positivity - hmmm, that's a tough one, being more positive has just made me realise how much negativity I encounter each day, that's not going to chance so I think a lot of smiling and nodding is in my future.
Letting go of things at the shop is getting easier, in fact I'm becoming more detached from it with each shift, not that I don't get anything from it, just that I'm not as engaged or feel like what I do is ... I don't want to say I'm not appreciated because that wouldn't be true, but just I think I'm just aware more than ever that I'm not essential (I know no-one is indispensable but you know what I mean). I think this year is probably the time to move on, but I do want it to be to something, not just away from that.
We have come in under budget this month too which is brilliant, and I was delighted to pick up a smll laundry basket, something that had been on my wants list for quite some time, £2.99 from the charity shop. It's like new and fits perfectly in my wardrobe, ideal for chucking things into at night, rather than leaving them on the floor.
The exercise was, of course, the biggest change and the one I'm most happy with. Getting up out of the cosy bed hasn't been easy exactly but it has been fine and not once has the thought of not getting on the bike entered my head. I've settled into the routine of cycling for 12 minutes a day Monday to Friday. I am not starting from a higher resistance setting, going further, with a higher wattage output, and so burning more calories (it's a bit of a fancy bike) today than I was at the start of the month. I also look forward to the weekend far more where I don't have to cycle! But I am generally more active when i'm out and about and productive around the house.
Other than a few crossed words with people, I don't think the month could have gone much better.
